A new installation designed to strengthen the production of precast façades for Portugal’s growing residential market

Moldtech has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of six production tables for the manufacture of architectural concrete panels for residential façades in Portugal. This new installation will enable one of the country’s leading precast concrete manufacturers to significantly expand its production capacity and meet the growing demand for industrialized construction solutions in residential projects.

The project is being developed within a particularly favourable context for the Portuguese residential sector, driven by the need to increase housing supply, support urban regeneration and implement more efficient construction systems capable of reducing project timelines, optimizing resources and improving overall building quality.

Industrialization drives residential development in Portugal

In recent years, the Portuguese residential market has steadily evolved towards increasingly industrialized construction models. Growing pressure on project delivery schedules, the need to optimize resources and higher quality requirements are encouraging the adoption of precast concrete elements in medium- and large-scale housing developments.

In this environment, manufacturers specializing in architectural precast solutions are increasing their investments in production technologies capable of delivering flexibility, precision and the ability to adapt to increasingly complex architectural designs.

The new installation supplied by Moldtech responds directly to these market needs, providing a solution specifically designed to manufacture a wide range of façade panels for different types of residential buildings.

A commitment to production capacity and flexibility

The client, a Portuguese company with a well-established track record in the manufacture of precast concrete elements for residential and architectural construction, continues to advance its industrial modernization strategy through the incorporation of new production technologies.

Its activity is closely linked to the residential sector, where architectural quality, manufacturing precision and the ability to adapt to different project requirements are essential factors for meeting the demands of today’s market.

The addition of these six new production tables will significantly increase manufacturing capacity while enhancing production flexibility, enabling the company to execute projects featuring increasingly varied and complex architectural configurations.

Six production tables designed for maximum manufacturing flexibility

The installation consists of six production tables specifically developed for the manufacture of precast concrete exterior façade panels.

Five of the tables measure 8.750 metres in length, 3.550 metres in width and 0.850 metres in height, and are intended for the production of façade panels corresponding to the upper floors of residential buildings, starting from the first floor and above.

Thanks to their configuration, this set of five tables enables the production of up to 28 different panel configurations, providing a high degree of flexibility to accommodate various architectural solutions and project requirements.

The installation is completed by a sixth, larger table measuring 8.750 metres in length, 8.800 metres in width and 0.850 metres in height, specifically designed for the production of exterior façade panels intended for ground-floor applications.

This table allows the manufacture of up to 26 different panel configurations, adapted to the architectural features commonly found on lower building levels, where entrances, commercial areas and other distinctive façade elements are typically integrated.

Overall, the installation enables the production of up to 54 different architectural panel configurations, offering exceptional adaptability for residential projects with high customization and geometric diversity requirements.

Efficient concrete compaction and precision panel configuration

All six tables are equipped with a pneumatic vibration system installed beneath the structure, designed to ensure proper concrete compaction throughout the production process.

This system contributes to improved concrete homogeneity, enhanced surface finishes and superior final product quality, particularly important for exposed architectural façade panels.

The installation also incorporates a formwork system designed to provide maximum flexibility in panel configuration. Several transverse formwork elements are fixed using magnetic systems, a solution widely adopted within the precast concrete industry due to its fast positioning, ease of handling and high dimensional accuracy.

The magnetic supports are manufactured from solid U-shaped steel profiles incorporating integrated magnetic fixing systems and threaded connections to ensure secure fastening throughout the production cycle. Dedicated release tools are also supplied, facilitating mould preparation and changeover operations.

A solution tailored to contemporary residential architecture

The wide range of available configurations allows manufacturers to respond effectively to the needs of modern residential construction, where façades increasingly incorporate geometric variations, distinctive features and customized architectural designs.

The industrial production of these elements in a controlled factory environment ensures high levels of quality, repeatability and precision while significantly reducing construction timelines and improving overall project planning.

This new installation will provide the Portuguese manufacturer with greater capacity to undertake complex residential developments while maintaining the production efficiency and quality control standards demanded by today’s market.

Moldtech, a long-term technology partner for sustainable growth

The completion of this project further strengthens the collaboration between Moldtech and one of Portugal’s leading manufacturers of precast concrete elements for building construction, consolidating a relationship built on innovation, trust and continuous improvement of production processes.

With more than four decades of international experience and projects successfully delivered across five continents, Moldtech continues to supply high-value solutions for the industrial production of precast concrete elements for buildings, infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

Beyond equipment supply, Moldtech supports its customers as a long-term technology partner, providing engineering expertise, industrial know-how and production solutions designed to evolve alongside the future needs of each precast facility. This collaborative approach enables manufacturers to successfully address the challenges of industrialized construction while supporting sustainable long-term growth.
