Moldtech has just installed a complete plant for prestressed concrete girders for the ambitious HS2 project, of utmost relevance, with our client TIERRA ARMADA, a leader in the sector and a company belonging to the FREYSSINET group.

In this first phase, the new railway line will have a length of 225 kilometers and will link London with Birmingham. This train will reduce the time it takes to travel between the two British cities by almost half. In a second phase, there will be two other branches that will reach Manchester and Leeds, respectively. Later, the project will also reach Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The HS2 project, which has captured the attention of the industry, has had the crucial participation of Moldtech, a world leader in equipment for precast concrete, which presented a competitive offer meeting the rigorous technical and economic specifications.

The strategic collaboration between Moldtech and TIERRA ARMADA has allowed us to challenge all stages of the construction process, from the initial design to the equipment delivery of the turnkey project.

The supply consisted of three self-reacting hydraulic benches, of 800 tn, 1400, tn and 1800 tn and 82, 91, and 66 meters long respectively, together with a set of hydraulic lateral molds for bridge girders of different shapes. The supply also included other accessories such as stressing jack, hydraulic detensioning units, lifting devices, etc.

Self-reacting prestressing systems integrate the stressing heads that support the strands tensioning and detensioning operations. It is used to produce any prestressed element, where the mold itself is capable of withstanding the tensioning efforts. Prestressing heads are designed to transfer force to the reacting columns which are disposed in parallel to the casting bench. This design simplifies installation and dismantling, thus facilitating its transportation to another production site.

The supplied lateral molds for bridge girders give the opportunity to create an infinite number of configurations, providing the client with a wide range of girders and beams for the construction of this large project.

The joining of forces and the experience of the work teams formed between both companies has allowed us to offer equipment with a practical, robust and easy-to-use approach, guaranteeing that each stage of the process, from design to equipment final delivery, meets the specific demands and needs of the client, as well as compliance with the strict safety standards that the project management required.

The strategic collaboration of both leading companies in the sector has consolidated their reputation as global leaders in the delivery of tailored solutions for the construction of infrastructure, more efficient and sustainable.

This achievement not only highlights excellence in the delivery of bespoke projects, but also underlines Moldtech and TIERRA ARMADA‘s commitment to continued innovation in the construction industry.
