Galați, Romania. An industrial structure over 40 meters tall is now standing at Damen Shipyards, a symbol of the growth and modernization of one of the most important naval facilities in Eastern Europe. The project was made possible thanks to Elenor, which carried out the manufacturing and assembly of all the precast elements with its own resources, relying on precast concrete technology designed and supplied by Moldtech.
A challenge in record time
The project was led by Daniel Duda, CEO of Elenor, who closed the deal with Damen and simultaneously established highly demanding delivery times with Moldtech. Under his leadership, Elenor not only fulfilled the manufacturing and supply of precast pieces for the shipyard, but also built its own production facility in record time.
The investment of nearly €2 million in Moldtech equipment allowed Elenor to have a state-of-the-art facility to manufacture the large structural elements required for the monumental shipyard.
Moldtech equips the new Elenor plant
In its role as a technological partner, Moldtech designed, manufactured, and installed state-of-the-art equipment tailored to the project’s specific needs:
- Hydraulic mould for columns up to 1,200 × 1,200 mm, with integrated electric vibration.
- Two prestressing benches with 1,500-ton stressing heads.
- Tilting tables for large-format panels.
- Moulds for precast stairs.
- Side moulds for delta and I-beams, capable of producing beams up to 23 m long.
Thanks to this infrastructure, Elenor was able to manufacture large-section columns, 23-meter delta beams, and the connecting elements between the columns that make up the building.
Execution and assembly with own means
In addition to producing the precast pieces, Elenor was responsible for the complete building assembly. To achieve this, it deployed heavy-duty cranes, specialized technical equipment, and qualified personnel, ensuring precision and safety at every stage of the installation.
The combination of Moldtech equipment and Elenor’s logistical capabilities was decisive in completing the project within the required timeframe.
A project with international impact
Damen’ Galați shipyard is one of the group’s largest, with over 1,700 employees and the capacity to build vessels up to 365 m in length. More than 400 vessels have been built there since 1999, including yacht hulls, hybrid ferries, and military vessels.
The new facility, which stands over 40 meters tall, strengthens this production capacity and is part of an expansion and modernization plan that consolidates Galați as a strategic hub for Damen in Eastern Europe.
This project demonstrates how collaboration between a local construction company and an international precast technology manufacturer like Moldtech can lead to world-class results.
Conclusion
The construction of Damen’s new warehouse in Galați is a milestone for the precast concrete sector. The project combines Spanish technology, Romanian investment, and a global vision, demonstrating the potential of precast concrete to meet the industry’s most ambitious challenges.
The project is already a symbol of how innovation, cooperation, and engineering can transform industrial infrastructure and open up new opportunities for international growth.
